Often, we focus too much on our desired results and not enough on the best way to get there. As W. Edwards Deming said “You can expect what you inspect.” That is, we don’t get what we expect, we get what we inspect.
Mr. Demings has been called the ‘Father of Quality’. His influence has helped people produce many great products and services for nearly one hundred years. However, disregarding this important concept regularly leads to poor products and poor results. This applies not only to business and industry but to your life and health as well.
Every year, there is a new fad diet, exercise craze and blockbuster drug. They often gain varying amounts of popularity, yet most eventually fall by the wayside. 200 years from now, it is unlikely that our great, great, great… grandchildren will be following the South Beach Diet, doing CrossFit or taking statin drugs. These health trends will be swallowed up by history.

Yet, there are absolute truths of health and healing that never change. They are foundational. The more we choose to build our lifestyle around these foundations, the more lasting results we will experience in our health and healing.

As a physician, I have had to face the bleak realities of our broken health care system for many years. It is crippled by design. For my patients to move past managing illness and achieve true healing, they have to understand these health care myths and know what a real health care system actually looks like.
It infuriates me that we are lied to about our health everyday! We have been told that disease comes from bad genes and bad germs and that there is nothing we can do about it. This is a lie! You have been told that pharmaceutical drugs produce health, that your ADD/ADHD child must take drugs for the rest of his life and there is nothing you can do about it. We have been told that there is no cure for cancer. Lies, lies and more lies!
We have been told that vaccines are completely safe and effective for your health. This is a lie! We have been told that ObamaCare is an affordable way to save our failing health care system. This is a lie! We have been told that GMO foods, fluoride, high fructose corn syrup and pesticide laden foods do not make us sick. These are yet more lies! If we are not cautious, we may just begin to believe the lies ourselves. How do we protect ourselves from a world full of lies and misinformation regarding our health?
The world of health and wellness can be very confusing. However, when you have a better understanding of REAL health and wellness, you will have a lot more clarity. With this clear understanding, you will be able to know the difference between something that is truly healthy versus something that is simply a scam. Use this information to build real health and save your wallet from the fakes!
You are a natural born healer! What? You didn’t know that? Indeed, even before you breathed your first breath, you were designed with an amazing innate healing ability that allows your body to heal all disease! Yes, it’s true! Your body is fully equipped to heal everything from a cut on your hand to cancer in your colon and everything in between. That is, as long as there is no interference.
In fact, we have all witnessed this amazing healing in action on many occasions throughout are lives. Think about the last time you cut your finger. Maybe you were distracted by your computer screen as you reached across your desk for a piece of paper and then – suddenly – felt that all too familiar intense, burning pain of a paper cut. You snatched your hand back and looked at the paper you were reaching for to see what had bitten you but nothing was there except the faint red tinge of your blood. You look at your finger and see a tiny, little slice in your skin. You think: “Holy cow! How can such a tiny cut bring such sharp pain!” (Or maybe your words are a little more explicit!)
A Cortisone injection is a commonly prescribed treatment for people with chronic joint pain such as neck pain, low back pain, hip pain and shoulder pain. It is also commonly prescribed for nerve pain problems such as sciatica. Simply because a treatment is commonly prescribed; however, does not mean that it is safe.

Certainly, no medical procedure is without potential side effects. Sometimes, medical drugs achieve their desired effect; however, there is always at least one undesirable co-effect for the patient to contend with. All medical drugs have side effects, many of which are extremely dangerous and can be worse than the symptom that the drug is intended to treat. Some side effects are even life threatening. Cortisone injections are no exception.
If you have struggled with exercise, you are not alone! According to statistics from the CDC(1), only 20.7% of people exercise like they should and less than one third of the America’s youth is even fit for military service. As a result, 68.5% of adults are overweight or obese. We all have many excuses for not exercising or not exercising as much or as often as we should. These excuses have become firmly ingrained in our own minds in the collective mind of our society.
However, upon inspection, we see that these excuses for not exercising are nothing more than exercise myths. When you apply these myths to yourself, you are actually lying to yourself. These are actually lies about exercise that we tell ourselves but you need to understand the truth so that you can restore your health and achieve an amazing level of wellness!
A law is an absolute – it never changes. Take for example the law of gravity. Even if you didn’t “believe” in gravity and jumped off a ten story building, what would happen regardless of your belief? Exactly…splat! Gravity is a law and no matter if you like it or not, you can’t change it!
In the last article, Heart Disease and The Cholesterol Myth, I dispelled the myth that high cholesterol is the cause of heart disease. Cholesterol has been assumed to be the culprit because it happens to be elevated in people who have, or are developing, heart disease. It is guilty by association – a case of being caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.
You’ve heard it said that time heals all wounds. When it comes to healing, time can either be your friend or time can be your enemy. It all depends on the lifestyle decisions you make everyday.
